Freckles (Lodon Follies)
1999. 17hh Bay G
Our most senior gelding, sired by Europes’s leading sire of the day, Danelhill Dancer. Born in Ireland, bought in England and trained at Santa Anita. He was diagnosed with EPM early at 3, was treated and turned out for a year. One race proved to be his last as his hind end had atrophied to the point of compromising his front tendons. He became the pony for Matts barn and served for 15 years. He has also appeared in numerous productions, commercials, movies, tv shows and magazines. He is wonderful, kind and chill. The go to for small children and newbies.
Luke (Point Breeze)
2001. 16. 1hh Chestnut G
Another senior gelding, Luke was sired by triple crown winner Affirmed. While he looks a lot like his dad, he did not run like him. He did manage to win a few races but retired to pony detail fairly early. Matt bought him at a training farm in SoCal to use as an alternate pony. While he did a good job, the track clearly stressed him out and he was to keep weight on. After a few seasons, we retired him and trail rode him for many years. A friend took him over and returned him to us 3 years ago. He is also a wonderful horse for kids and light adults.
Renzo (Relieve)
2005. 16hh Liver Chestnut G
Candace’s event horse in SoCal, Renzo was bought for a TV series called LUCK, for HBO. Matt was the racing manager for the filming and Renzo was popular with the riders because he was very accommodating. When filming ended, Candace adopted Renzo. He is a sensitive flower and gets rattled easily. He is very sweet, just needs a gentle, kind and soft rider. He did lower level eventing and jumpers at Galway and LAEC before relocating here. He is an excellent trail horse, loves to jump and is good with the kids.
Hayden (Midnight Casanova)
2011. 16.3hh Dark Bay G
Hayden is the goofball of the bunch. He raced for Matt in SoCal, retired with a soft tissue injury and Candace rehabbed him and started his retraining. A good friend took him over and evented him for 3 years at Galway, Copper Meadows and LAEC. He also showed in jumpers. He is a very talented jumper, beast cross country and tolerates dressage - he racked up the ribbons. There is not a mean bone in his body but he is big and strong and can be a handful. The rider has to accept his quirks and be light as he gets spooky on the trail when he’s fresh.
Parker (Broadcaster)
2010. 16.2hh Dark Bay G
This guy is pretty bomb proof. We use him in sessions with kids and is the safest trail horse of all. He is a rock. He evented a bit in SoCal, did tons of trails, was a wonderful pony and was a character in the barn when he ran races. A tad impatient when standing, tied, or in a stall. He likes to have a job. A very nice horse who loves treats and will do anything asked of him. Jumps well, opens gates, leads on trail rides. The sweetest boy.
Reba (Probable)
2016. 17.1hh Chestnut M
Well, Chestnut Mare… but she is a sweetheart to ride. She raced from 2 to 4 and never won a race. Came second but this girl is so polite, she let the others go first. Racing was not her passion but she is the most talented jumper we have, moves like a dream and is still a bit green. She is very willing to learn, great on the trail, loves jumping. She is easy to ride, light, responsive and learns quickly. It’s enjoyable to watch good riders on her because it helps to further her education. She could be a superstar, we think!
Maverick (Silken Prince)
2016. 17.2hh Dark Bay G
Maverick is amazing. We have has him over 2 years, sent right off the track and he has been exceptional. He had a soft tissue injury so he had a year off. He is quite green but is a rock solid trail horse and we think he has HUNTER written all over him. He is very methodical and you need to let him think about it sometimes. No buck, spook, not goofy, just pretty serious about learning new things. He is such a sweetheart and if you scratch his belly he will be your best friend. A blank slate with loads of potential. Kind enough to put kids on him but he is too big for most of our kids. A teenager with the right skills can ride him in the ring. If the right person were to want to adopt him… well… we might let him go.
Snuggles (Smuggler’s Run)
2019. 16hh Bay G
This guy came to us in mid-April 2025. He needed a few months off do to a muscle pull but he started his re-training in June. Very kind, sweet horse and has made over $300,000 racing. He is earmarked for our therapy program due to his calm, sweet nature. We will see how he pans out but he will need lots of miles of trail riding and arena work first. We have high hopes for him and he comes from owners that are amazing. They want him to have the best life so for if some reason he doesn’t fit our program, they will happily take him back. So far, he has been so fun!
